“You take a look around your college campus, and the world, and politics, and one season of summer stock, and you listen to the conversation of a bunch of nitwit college students, and you decide that everything’s ego, ego, ego, and the only intelligent thing for a girl to do is to lie around and shave her head and say the Jesus prayer and beg God for little mystical experience that’ll make her nice and happy."

As you can see by my apartment, I looks books, vinyl, music, antiques..etc.
Thus, this is my reply when my parents asked what I would like for Christmas (mind you, they live in the suburbs and have never in their life stepped foot in a thrift store..)

My dad's response, "Can you buy vinyl records at Target?"

Needless to say, they got me a blender and a gift card to Target....

‎"When I am on my deathbed, I don’t think I will be thinking about a nice pair of shoes I had or my beautiful house. I am going to be thinking about an evening I spent with somebody when I was twenty where I felt that I was just absolutely connected to them." - Tom Ford

Found these little beauties at an antique store the other day.
yes, they are suede. and yes, they make me want to sing "the only boy who could ever reach me, was the son of a preacher man." when I wear them.

Today will consist of some leisure reading, a little laundry and Californication.
Couldn’t ask for more…

“Let us toast to animal pleasures, to escapism, to rain on the roof and instant coffee, to unemployment insurance and library cards, to absinthe and good-hearted landlords, to music and warm bodies and contraceptives... and to the "good life", whatever it is and wherever it happens to be.”

the ropes

"I must raise my feet again and again, weary and wounded though they be; and because I must go on, I often look back in wrath at the most beautiful things that could not hold me-because they could not hold me."
-Friedrich Nietzsche
